Woman smiling after Lens Exchange

Presbyopic Refractive Lens Exchange is a procedure of choice for those patients over 40 who have not developed cataracts but are having trouble seeing distance and near without the use of glasses or contact lenses. While LASIK improves distance vision, those under 40 can still see up close with their natural focusing abilities. However, those over 40 have difficulty with near vision because their natural lens is becoming less flexible, so LASIK would not benefit their near vision. This is the area of visual problems that the presybyopic refractive lens exchange procedure addresses.

Presbyopic Refractive Lens Exchange removes the natural lens that has not yet become a cataract and replaces it with a multifocal lens implant (see Premium Lens topic under Cataract Center), allowing the patient to see distance, intermediate, and near clearly. Both eyes need the presybyopic refractive lens exchange treatment before full benefits are seen. Call us today at 770-995-5408 to learn more.
