For years, you’ve probably heard that you are what you eat. Well, when it comes to your vision, it’s completely true! Eating poorly affects all aspects of your life, including your vision. To be truly healthy, inside and out, check out these foods you should be eating!

  • Fish: Salmon and Fish Oil SupplementsThe Mediterranean diet gets a lot of praise, and a big part of that is the fish like salmon that is part of it. Salmon is filled with Omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to clearer skin, stronger hair, and protection against dry eye. With benefits like this, everyone should make sure salmon is a prominent part of their diet! Not a fan of fish? You can get the same benefits from taking fish oil supplements as well.
  • Leafy Greens: Kale, Spinach, and BroccoliWhen it comes to eating your vegetables for eye health, it’s long been thought that carrots were the best vegetables to consume. New evidence has come forward that suggests the best vegetables may be leafy greens like kale, spinach, and broccoli. Make sure to keep avocados, peas, and collard greens in mind as well, as these green vegetables include important ingredients like zeaxanthin and lutein, which may be able to stave off the development of cataracts, as well as macular degeneration.
  • Whole Grains: Brown Rice, Whole Wheat Bread, and QuinoaMore and more, it’s becoming trendy to eat healthy. Gone are the days of white bread, and empty carbs. It’s time to step away from the refined carbohydrates, and instead choose quinoa, whole wheat bread, and brown rice. Just because these foods are healthy doesn’t mean they must be boring! Quinoa is a great substitute for things like white rice, and is incredibly filling. Brown rice tossed with some of our favorite leafy greens and a lean protein are a great way to eat healthy, and enjoy it too! The vitamin E and zinc found in these grains makes them well worth it for eye health, and overall health.

Whether you’re trying to get fit or you just want to keep your eyes in great condition, these foods are an easy way to enjoy food, and be nice to your body at the same time.
