Laser Vision Correction (LVC) is a method of reshaping the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

Anyone considering LVC will need a comprehensive eye exam to help you and your doctor decide whether LVC is right for you. Generally, the following criteria provide a good indication of your suitability for LVC:

  • Be at least 22 years of age or older.
  • Have stable vision 12 months prior to the procedure.
  • Have healthy eyes that are free from retinal problems, corneal scars and any eye disease.

More than 96% of Laser Vision Correction treatments have resulted in at least 20/40 vision without correction in national clinic trials. 88% achieved 20/20 vision without correction.

Yes. Visual recovery is slower with PRK. It is often more painful and there is a higher incidence of infection, haze, and scarring.

Most patients recover useful vision within 24 hours after LASIK surgery. Most patients return to work within 48 hours.

Some patients experience light sensitivity, dry eye syndrome, starbursting or glare around lights (especially at night).
